We’re told that the holidays are a time for celebration, joy and happiness, but some find it to be a season of sadness, loneliness and frustration. The next 5 weeks we’ll be highlighting a few stories of people who have found ways to survive the holidays while making a little bit of room for the unexpected. We’ll start this first week with a little introductory clip.

What are your expectations for this holiday season?

One thing I expect is to continue to be completely weirded out by the strange combination of Christmas trees, Christmas lights, tinsel, etc. etc. with long summery sunshiny days and short nights.

I also expect there will be yelling/shouting/blaming at the big extended family Christmas dinner. There certainly was last year, and I expect more of the same this year.

    Expect the UNexpected, man. ;0)>
