It’s been a great year for Recycle Your Faith. Fifty-six videos were posted, thirty-five people were interviewed and RYF videos were viewed more than 150,000 times. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on each video, but here are a few I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss.
Best Example of Dialogue
Dave Rowe was one of the most delightful people I interviewed while on our 8-month road trip last year. I found him to be very easy to talk to, even though we come from pretty different perspectives. This clip highlights one aspect of what makes him 2010’s best example of dialogue: his humility.
Best Story
Mark Scandrette can tell a good story. In this one, Mark masterfully captures the complexity of the way of Jesus.
Most Viewed Series
It’s no mystery that debate draws more of a crowd than dialogue, but this year I experienced it first hand with the Four Perspectives on Homosexuality series. What started out as an honest attempt to have a conversation about homosexuality quickly turned into a polarized shouting match. I was a bit discouraged that people were coming to the site to be part of a debate, but there were also lots of great responses from new visitors who took some extra time to explore the site. The clip below is an intro to the series, but all of the videos can be found on this page.
Most Provocative
I can always count on Bart Campolo to make me think, this clip is no exception.
Audience Choice
The results are in and you picked a clip Hugh Hollowell as the best video of the year. If you haven’t already seen this clip, you won’t want to miss it.
As the year comes to a close, I find myself expectant. I just scheduled out 2011’s clips and I must say, some amazing clips are on their way! Get ready!
A more thorough and behind the scenes look at 2010 will be included in the January newsletter. If you don’t already receive the monthly newsletters, you can subscribe here.

Nice choices and nice work Craig. The more I learn, interact with others and meet genuine Jesus followers, the more I need to shift from the “I am right” thinking. I know Hugh got slammed for giving money for an apartment rental to a homeless woman and her boyfriend. People came UNGLUED at that one. “You must first demand that they sin no more!” Yeah, whatever. Because I am outspoken,I hear pretty angry attacks and I just keep thinking “oh, really. That looks Jesus-like and I would want to join your club”.
People that have all the human answers for the God questions leave no space for the Creator/Creative God to exist.
My sweetheart spent Christmas day with two kegs on the back on his truck, a truck bed filled with bread from Whole Foods (they are HQed in Austin where he lives) and hundreds of flashlights seeking people under the 44 area bridges to gift them on Christmas Day. He has worked in that community for nine years. He knows this one pretty well. All his own money, no church money. When I posted it on FB, the uproar was over beer. And funny enough only those that have all the answers . The ones who had been hurt by Christians or do not trust us, thought it was wonderful.
So, heresy or Jesus -acts? May I ALWAYS seek to look like Him when I cannot show you verses as to why I do specific things.I see the overarching message of the Good News and do my best not to make it the Bad News.
You do great work Craig!
Love it, Kathy. God is bigger than beer and sometimes found in beer. I think Irish monks invented whiskey,or maybe that’s just a rumor.
Great videos Craig. Look forward to 2011. Happy New Year to all!
